A one-day CBSE capacity-building workshop on Python programming was organized for teachers from various schools across Jammu at Model Academy School on 14th September 2024. The event was graced by Mr. Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Regional Officer CBSE, Chandigarh, as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Vinay, Administrative Officer, Pratap World School, Pathankot, as the Guest of Honour. The program commenced with the dignitaries lighting the ceremonial lamp, followed by the presentation of bouquets and felicitation of the resource persons, Dr. Naval Preet Singh and Mr. Sumit Bhardwaj from Amritsar, both experts in Python and Computer Science education.
Mr. Pramod Srivastava, Principal, Model Academy, expressed his gratitude to the dignitaries and participants, hoping that the event marked a significant step in promoting digital literacy among educators.
During his address, Mr. Rajesh Gupta stated that the workshop would equip educators with the skills needed to enhance their teaching practices. He highlighted the importance of Python in the current digital era, emphasizing, "Python is one of the most widely used programming languages globally. By training our teachers, we are enhancing their skillsets and preparing students for a technology-driven future."
The resource persons provided comprehensive guidance on using Python to teach computational thinking, problem-solving, and coding skills. Key topics covered included an Introduction to Python, its applications in education, variables, data types, control structures, functions, loops, error handling, as well as Python’s utility for data analysis and visualization. The workshop aimed to empower educators with essential Python skills, helping them introduce this versatile programming language into their classrooms.
The interactive format of the workshop, which included Q&A sessions, group exercises, and real-life classroom examples, ensured that teachers could apply the knowledge effectively in their teaching environments. Participants expressed satisfaction with the training, particularly praising the practical and engaging approach, which made learning Python enjoyable.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Bharti Balwal, In-charge of Training, who expressed gratitude to Mr. Rajesh Gupta and Mr. Vinay for their valuable time and to the resource persons for sharing their in-depth knowledge of Python. Special appreciation was extended to the organizing team of Model Academy teachers: Ms. Diksha Sajgotra, Ms. Vinita Gupta, Ms. Taniya Kashyap, and Ms. Deepali, for their effort in making the workshop a success.
