Model Academy, the Prestigious School of MIER organised a workshop on the topic “Anxiety among Adolescents” and career counselling session for the students of Senior Secondary Wing.
The resource persons for the day were Dr Veena Kumari, senior consultant, clinical psychologist, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun and Mr. Amrit Jaggi, Manager, Education Partnership Global University Systems, New Delhi.
In the first session, Dr Veena kumari discussed about anxiety among youth and said that in today’s world, every person is flooded with an anxiety of excelling in all spheres of life. Excessive stress and anxiety can have serious consequences in our behavioural, physical, and psychological response. She elucidated that the best way to manage stress is to learn healthy coping strategies and stress management techniques play a pivotal role to deal with changes in a healthier way. During the interactive session she touched upon daily life stress that the students go through and addressed their important queries. She further gave useful tips to overcome it.
In the second session, Mr. Amrit Jaggi while addressing the students said that career decisions play an important part in shaping the future growth and development of students. Mr Jaggi further said that in today's environment of multiple options, knowing about choices available helps students in their decision-making process. He rendered tips and techniques to overcome academic and personal stress, dealing with anxiety, fear, and disappointment. Principal, Dr Pramod Srivastava thanked the resource persons for addressing the queries of the students and conducting the session that triggered positive attitude among the learners. The event was moderated by Mrs. Manju Vali, Convener CCA.
