To mark the World Environment Day the Eco- Club of Model Academy, the Prestigious School of MIER in collaboration with Isha Foundation Jammu Chapter conducted a global campaign lead by Sadguru for soil rejuvenation.
Moving with the theme'' Only One Earth'' which focusses on the need to live in sustainable environment and in harmony with nature, a special assembly was designed where students participated in poem recitation, slogan writing and speeches to show their love and concern for healthy environment.
Speaking on the ocassion Ms. Rubul Mahajan, volunteer of Isha Foundation said the main objective of soil campaign is to help students understand how the soil is degrading and what can be done to prevent its degradation. She said that it can be done by bringing about transformative changes through policies and our choices - towards cleaner and greener life style.The students were also cautioned about the dangers of soil erosion.
Approximately 600 hundred students enthusiastically participated in writing letters to the honourable Prime Minster, Sh.Narinder Modi in support of the movement.
Dr Pramod Kumar Srivastava while thanking the Isha Foundation and resource person said that the need of hour is to preserve our environment and conserve soil.
The assembly culminated with the pledge taken by staff members and students to protect environment and save soil.
The programme was coordinated by Manju Vali along with members of Eco- Club.
