Model Academy, the prestigious school of MIER in association with Jammu Sahodaya School Complex, organised Capacity Building Programme on Skill Development for the principals, vice-principals, coordinators, and teachers from different schools of CBSE.
The training programme featured an eminent educationist, Mr. Sandeep Sethi, Director Academics Maharaja Sawai Man Singh School, Jaipur and Former Education Director CBSE, New Delhi.
The workshop commenced with a ceremonious lighting of the lamp, followed by a heart-warming welcome song performed by the school choir. While welcoming the resource person, Mr. Pramod kumar Srivastava said that Jammu was blessed to host a stalwart, an intellectual par excellence. Mr. Srivastava highlighted the achievements of Mr. Sethi and said that educational fraternity should work on the guidelines set by him and adopt new pedagogies to make present students, leaders of tomorrow.
The illustrious speaker started the day interacting with the students of Senior Secondary Wing and advised them to introspect and believe in themselves. He further cautioned them to work judiciously to meet their targets. It was a great learning session wherein children cleared their doubts.
In the second session Mr. Sethi addressed the educators and impressed upon them that graphic novel, an innovative pedagogical revolution will help in increasing the cultural and social sensitivity in our children and at the same time would make learning more interesting, meaningful, and creative.
The resource person further elaborated that NEP 2020 envisions a shift from textbook learning to understanding concepts and making connections with real world. It also gives further impetus to all the creative and out of box thinking rather than rote learning. The main aim was to enable the teachers with pedagogies of experiential learning, theatre in classrooms, graphic novels, developing test series and preparing students for CUET.
The event culminated with the vote of thanks by Dr. Kunal Anand, Principal DPS, Udhampur. Dr Kunal while expressing his gratitude said that it was an extreme privilege to host the esteemed resource person and listen to his views related to new pedagogies in education.
