Literary Fest

To intensify the campaign, save the girl child and promote it as a watchword slogan for improving child sex ratio by engaging the community and to defy age old bias against girls, Model Academy, the prestigious school of MIER in association with District Legal Services Authority, Jammu organised an awareness programme on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
The event was graced by Mrs. Smriti Sharma, Secretary DLSA as the chief guest. The programme was attended by prominent senior lawyers and members of the DLSA, Advocate Deepali Arora, Advocate Arvind khajuria, Advocate Mamta kumari and Advocate Mayank Gupta.
Addressing the mammoth gathering, Mrs. Smriti said that Government has launched various schemes aimed at motivating students and teachers not to differentiate between male and female child since both are equally important to maintain the social system and equalise the sex ratio. She threw light on the legal values of observing awareness on beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
Earlier, Advocate Deepali said that it has become necessary to sensitise the society about the female foeticide, as it was resulting in decreasing number of girl population. She further said that a significant part of the advocacy campaign is focused on creating awareness and discouraging the practice of child marriage.
Advocate Arvind khajuria in his interaction with the students said that such awareness schemes envisages multi approach by providing quality health and education to girl child and to bring about an attitudinal change in the society and focus on eradication of infanticide.
In this connection painting competition on the said theme was also organised in which Ms. Shravya from class 10th bagged the first prize, Irtiqa Afreen Wani from class 12th and Armaan from class 10th bagged second and third place respectively, whereas consolation prize was given to Ananya from class 9th. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Manju Vali, Manager Academics middle wing and Convener CCA.
